For five years he had a theft charge hanging over his head.

However, Darwin DaCosta Walker walked out of the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court a free man today after the case against him was dropped.

Walker, a 46-year-old roller operator, of Kew Road, St Michael, had pleaded not guilty to stealing 72 litres of diesel valued at $200 belonging to A. Maynard Trucking Company, sometime between November 20 and 21, 2012.

Michael Ashby, a driver at the company, took to the witness stand and told Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant that he was authorized to speak on the company’s behalf and it was no longer interested in pursuing the matter.

After asking Walker if he had any other matters before the courts to which he replied, “no”, the magistrate then told him he was free to go.
