Fabian Shawn Austin, of no fixed place of abode, will spend the next 28 days on remand after categorically denying that he burglarized an establishment.

Austin is accused of entering Sandra’s Hot Food storeroom between February 17 and 18 as a trespasser and stealing 25 cases of empty bottles and two boxes of fish worth $550 belonging to Keveil Evans.

“I am not guilty. I am not guilty,” the 48-year-old said when asked by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant for his plea.

And while Station Sergeant Cameron Gibbons had no objections to bail he raised concern that Austin had no fixed place of abode, which would prove difficult for lawmen to locate him if he chose to abscond.

The accused’s situation became even more complex when he was asked whether he had an address.

“[I live at] Wildey Road, Clapham, St Michael out by a shop,” he told the magistrate while also revealing that he had an aunt who may consent to signing bail on his behalf but he was unsure of her telephone number.

He was remanded to HMP Dodds until March 20 and told to make contact with someone to sign his bail.
