A St Joseph man who literally came face to face with the Word last week, has had to spend some time, not at church, but at Dodds as he awaits his fate.
Pedro Lamar Caddle of Bissex Housing Area was in police custody at Oistins Police Station when he was struck in the face with a Bible by an American visitor.
New Yorker Alexa Renea Pierre became a victim of aggravated burglary and when she went to the police station on Friday to identify her property Caddle was there. She took up a small Bible which was on a nearby desk and threw it at his face.
She pleaded guilty to assaulting Caddle with the holy book when she appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant on Friday, but was granted an absolute discharge and allowed to leave.
However, he answered to a number of charges relating to the theft of $4,335 in property when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court over the weekend.
These included robbing Pierre of a cellular phone and case, a necklace and BDS$20 cash when he entered the home of Nadira Byles as a trespasser between August 7 and 8.
He is also charged with stealing a cellular phone and case, a charging cable and a power bank belonging to the homeowner, as well as a cellphone belonging to Amarylis Samuel.
Caddle is alleged to have been armed with a knife when he committed the alleged acts.
He is further alleged to have assaulted and caused serious bodily harm, as well as damage a chain belonging to, Sergeant Carlisle Burton while the officer was performing his duties on August 9.
The accused was not required to plead to the charges as they are alleged to have occurred in the District ‘B’ jurisdiction.
The 37-year-old unemployed man was remanded to Dodds and will appear in the Oistins Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
