An 18-year-old, who “blatantly disrespected” the court and the Probation Department, has been fined $700.
Kevin Odane Forde, of Upper Collymore Rock, Brittons Hill, St Michael, has six weeks in which to pay the money if he wants to avoid spending eight weeks at HMP Dodds.
Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant imposed the fine on the teen who had previously pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis on May 28.
A pre sentencing report was expected in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court but what the magistrate received instead was a letter stating Forde’s failure to comply with the Probation Department’s request to be interviewed.
“You have blatantly disrespected the court and the Probation Department,” Cuffy-Sargeant told Forde before imposing the fine.
He returns to court on September 14 to show proof of payment.
