An unpaid fine dating back to 2013 came back to haunt a 30-year-old vendor today, landing him at Dodds for 12 months.

Damien Keshon Davis-Herbert of 6th Avenue Deacons Court, Black Rock, St Michael was given the sentence by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant, when he appeared to face a separate charge.

Back in 2013 Davis-Herbert was fined $10,000 on each of two criminal convictions, with the alternative being 12 months in jail.

When he appeared before Cuffy-Sargeant today, charged with three drugs offences, it was discovered that the fines had not been paid.

Davis-Herbert, was charged on August 2 with possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking of 23 grammes of cannabis worth $150, told the magistrate he had paid $5,000 of the fine but had not paid the balance as things were “a little rough”.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges today, was reprimanded and discharged on the supply and possession charges, but fined $1,500 which must be paid in one month or spend another four months in prison.
