After Selwyn Brian Miller’s girlfriend threw hot oil on him, he retaliated by stoning her mother’s house, damaging a window in the process.

Now the 18-year-old, of Newbury, St George, not only has to compensate Shellyann Griffith for the damage done, but he has also been forbidden from ever venturing onto her property.

On Friday June 22, Griffith was jolted from her sleep by a commotion in the house. She later discovered that a window had been broken.

“We were quarreling and my head was a little hot because I see things I shouldn’t see and she pelt hot oil on my neck,” Miller told Magistrate Douglas Frederick today.

Griffith meanwhile told the magistrate the accused was her former son-in-law and “was a good fella, [but that’s] past tense”.

“ I got up from sleeping and my daughter told me to be careful because Smiley out there pelting rocks.” Griffith then requested that she be compensated for the repairs, which had already been done and told Miller to stop “coming round my house”.

The magistrate enforced the request and ordered that Miller compensate Griffith in one week or face a week in prison.

The first-time offender must also complete 80 hours of community service by August 14 if he wants to keep his criminal record clean.
