A bitter dispute between two brothers over their mother’s welfare has landed one of them before the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court.
When Kirt Larry William Alleyne, 36, of Bridge Gap, Small Land, St Michael, appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick today he denied assaulting Paul Alleyne on June 28.
“This charge is a waste of the court’s time. I should not be here because it is a lie that is being told on me,” the waters sports operator said.
“He is my mother’s son . . . . She found him somewhere,” he said in reference to Paul, who he refused to acknowledge was his brother.
The prosecutor Sergeant Rudy Pilgrim had no objections to bail but requested that the accused not be allowed to venture to his mother’s house until the matter was adjudicated.
However, that request angered the accused even further.
“I was just visiting my mother who is sick with dementia and he is trying to stop me from coming to my mother’s premises. Bashment Monkey [as Paul is commonly known] . . . is a nuisance. He can’t stop me from coming there,” the accused maintained.
However, his brother, who also appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick today, claimed that the accused was “coming up there [to the mother’s house where he also lives] and making it a living hell”.
“He coming there threatening me and everything [and] he does not live there,” Paul said, to which the accused responded saying, “You are a compulsive liar!”
Describing the situation as “a lot of confusion”, the magistrate granted the accused $1,500 bail on the grounds that he stays away from his mother’s premises until July 9.
That’s when she is expected to appear before the court in a bid to settle the matter of who is welcomed and who is not.
