A St Michael man, accused of indecently assaulting Canadian diplomat Dr Nicole Giles and robbing her husband back in 2015, has been found not guilty of those crimes.
However, an eight-member jury has found Teddy Orlando McDonald Gill, of No. 77 Wanstead Gardens, St James, guilty of handling stolen property.
Gill had been on trial in the No. 5 Supreme Court before Madam Justice Pamela Beckles for allegedly committing the crimes against Giles on April 7, 2015, including robbing her family of a wallet, BDS$400 and GUY$30,000 in cash, a cellular phone and a digital camera.
The phone, a Nokia, was subsequently found by police in Gill’s possession. However, the accused has maintained that he purchased the device from a man named Yank in Swan Street, The City.
In preparation for his sentencing, Justice Beckles today ordered a full report on Gill, who has been on remand at Dodds prison.
Gill, who has 14 previous convictions dating back to 1995, including theft and breaking and entering, returns to court on June 27.
