A 30-year-old unemployed man who was caught with $1,090 worth of cannabis in his possession has been remanded to prison until Friday.
Tylon Kavid Weston Belgrave of Claybury, St John was sitting in the Nursery Drive Terminal with a haversack on his back on Saturday when members of the Tactical Response Unit of the Royal Barbados Police Force, who were carrying out an exercise in the area, caught wind of a “pungent smell of marijuana in the air”.
According to Station Sergeant Peter Barrow, Belgrave subsequently consented to a police search, during which 218 grammes of cannabis was found.
Asked to give an account of the illegal drugs, the St John man explained that he had “a little weed” to sell.
He will be sentenced when he makes his next appearance before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch on September 22.
