Dirty dancer

Not only was Audrick Trotman reduced to tears today, but he “did not know what to say” when he was told that he would have to pay the court the $8,000 he put up as bail for a Jamaican dancer who has left the country.

On June 30, Trotman stood as a surety for Kimone Tasheeka Carty who previously lived at Bransea Apartments, Brighton Terrace, Black Rock, St Michael.

The 24-year-old woman, who had been the subject of a wanted police bulletin, had been on remand since March, charged with destroying an apartment belonging to Mohammed Saed Haveliwala by fire on March 15, and maliciously wounding Sasha Gaye on the same day.

Trotman informed Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today that Carty had left the country. The prosecutor confirmed his story and said Interpol had been informed.

The magistrate pointed out that Trotman had signed the bail form despite being told of the responsibilities of a surety and that a previous surety had withdrawn.

“I just don’t like unjust people. I cannot eat, I cannot sleep . . . I don’t know what to say. I would like her to come to court,” Trotman said when asked why he was crying.

However, that was not enough to placate the magistrate who informed a crestfallen Trotman that he was “required to pay the bail amount which is $8,000.

“How much time do you need?” Cuffy-Sargeant asked Trotman, who was unable to give an answer by the end of the day’s sitting.

He returns to court next Wednesday.
