A retired man from St Philip was today warned to stay away from his alleged victim when he appeared in a Bridgetown court charged with assault.
It is alleged that 73-year-old Ashfield Douglas Layne of #14 Tangerine Street, Union Development assaulted Joany Straker-Layne on August 26, occasioning her actual bodily harm.
He was not required to plead to the charge when he went before Acting Magistrate Sandra Rawlins in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court, as the alleged incident occurred outside of that jurisdiction.
With no objections from prosecutor Sergeant Vernon Waithe, Layne was released on $3,500 bail with one surety.
The matter resumes in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court on September 13.
