Two young men will spend the next month in prison after appearing in District ‘A’ Traffic Court on theft and robbery charges.

Serrian Jamali Scott-Fagan, 20, of Jackman’s Alley, Orange Hill, St James and Kashawn Kimani Clarke, 16, of Valery, Brittons Hill, pleaded not guilty to stealing an $800 cell phone from Joshua Callendar and to robbing Marlon Callendar of a motorcycle worth $5 000 on May 23.

Scott-Fagan also denied wounding Keemo Phillips on May 10.

Sargeant Ralph Rollock objected to bail on the grounds that a knife and firearm were allegedly used in the commission of the offences and the need to protect society and the accused from themselves. Both young men were already on bail.

Clarke’s counsel, Kevin Miller, argued for bail on behalf of his client, insisting on the presumption of innocence and pointing out that the offences were only allegations at this point.

But bail was denied, and the two were remanded to return to court on June 24.
