A first-time offender who pleaded guilty to drug possession has been referred to the Probation Department for help.
Thirty-year-old Lemar Devon Renaldo Small, Odessa McClean Avenue, My Lord’s Hill, St Michael admitted to the April 4, 2019 offence, of possession of cannabis, when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick today.
Mitigating on Small’s behalf attorney-at-law Dwight Moseley told the court his client was remorseful and “sorry” for the trouble he had found himself in. But the lawyer said: “He has a little bit of a drug habit.”
That lawyer also asked that Small be referred to a drug programme and if completed successfully the court could reprimand and discharge him.
“Honestly I can do with the help for sure,” Small told Frederick when asked whether he agreed with his attorney’s submission.
Small was then granted $1,500 bail to return to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on June 28, 2019.
