Businessman George Reginald Ivan Parris who was remanded to prison back in February charged in connection with over ten million dollars worth of cannabis and cocaine has been offered bail in the amount of $500,000 in the High Court.

Parris, 56, of No. 318 Inch Cape Terrace, Well House, St Philip, is charged with possession, possession with intent to supply, possession with intent to traffic 1028.4 kilos of cannabis, and 22.7 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,135,000 on February 14.

He is further accused of importing the two drugs between February 5 and 6 in the District ‘A’ jurisdiction.

Queen’s Counsel Michael Lashley and attorney Dayna Taylor-Lavine made a successful application for bail in the High Court today despite the Crown’s objections.

Parris, who was remanded to HMP Dodds on February 19 after appearing in the St Matthias Magistrates’ Court, needs two sureties to secure the bail amount and will have to report to the nearest police every Monday and Friday when released.

On the day he was remanded, he was given a March 19 date to reappear before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch.
