St Michael resident Kadeem Shakeel Mayers will ring in the New Year at HMP Dodds after he secured an automatic 28-day remand.
The 24-year-old labourer of Bannister Land, Martindales Road was sent to the St Philip institution when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick today on gun, ammunition and drug charges.
He is alleged to have had a firearm and one round of ammunition in his possession without the necessary valid licences on December 23 as well as that he possessed cannabis on the same day.
He was not required to plead to the two charges under the Firearms Act and though he could plead to the cannabis offence he opted not to, and rather to have the matter heard in the High Court.
Mayers will reappear in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on January 24, 2019.
