The driver of the motor van involved in a collision along Foursquare Road, St Philip seven months ago that claimed the lives of cousins Omar Chase and Kamar Small has been charged in connection with the tragic accident.

Wayne Ivan Cummins of Packers Valley, St Patrick’s, Christ Church appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court this afternoon accused of causing the deaths of 33-year-old Chase and 31-year-old Small on May 25 about 6:50 p.m while driving his vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public. Chase, the driver of the motorcycle and Small, the pillion rider, died on the scene after colliding with Cummins’ vehicle.

The 49-year-old contractor was not required to plead to the two indictable charges which were read to him by Magistrate Douglas Frederick. There were no objections to bail by prosecutor Station Sergeant Carrison Henry who requested that Cummins surrender his travel documents to the court and report to the Boarded Hall Police Station every Wednesday by 10 a.m. with valid identification.

The magistrate enforced the order and granted Cummins bail in the sum of $20,000, which he secured with one surety.

The accused, who was represented by attorney-at-law Kevin Miller, will make his next appearance in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court next Thursday, January 3, 2019.
