His luck ran out and so did his chance of spending Christmas with his expected baby.
Despite being given several opportunities to maintain his freedom, Ranaco Fabico Richard Bovell found himself before the courts one time too many and was remanded to HMP Dodds by Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today.
The 18-year-old of Villa Road, Brittons Hill, St Michael appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court charged with robbing Donte Alleyne of a chain, three rings and one pendant valued at $370, on November 16, 2018.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence but prosecutor Sergeant Cameron Gibbons objected to bail.
Gibbons told the court the charge was a serious one and that police were presently seeking two other persons in connection with the matter. He said he feared that if granted bail, Bovell would interfere with investigations.
Additionally, the prosecutor said the accused was already on bail from that court on a rape and another robbery charge and had also been given an opportunity earlier this year when he appeared in the Oistins court.
However, in his bail application Bovell told the magistrate he knew nothing about the charge and revealed that he was expecting a child in three weeks.
“I am not a flight risk and I am not a threat to society. I am expecting a baby in three weeks and I have no knowledge of this crime,” he said.
Bovell will reappear in court on December 31.
