A first-time offender will have to successfully perform 180 hours of community service if he wants to keep his criminal record clean.

The requirement was imposed on Shaquan Tyrese Rashid Springer, of Mahaica Gap, Green Hill, St Michael today after he pleaded guilty to having 13.5 grammes of marijuana worth $300 in his possession on November 14.
Acting Magistrate Sandra Rollins also ordered that he return to the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court on February 13, 2019 to give an update of his service.
Police were on patrol at 3rd Avenue Long Gap, Spooner’s Hill, St Michael carrying out checks when they had the occasion to speak with Springer who consented to a search.

In his pocket was a Ziploc bag with 45 greaseproof wrappings containing the illicit substance.
