The man convicted of the manslaughter of six young women in the infamous Campus Trendz clothing store fire and robbery on Tudor Street, The City on September 3, 2010, will now have the opportunity to challenge his life sentences before the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) on December 5.
In June 2011, Renaldo Alleyne was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to six concurrent life sentences, after the six young women died when the store was firebombed during a robbery.

At the Court of Appeal in Barbados, Alleyne, of Prescod Bottom, Hindsbury, St Michael said the life sentences were excessive and further that the trial judge did not consider a “discount” for his early guilty plea.
In dismissing his appeal, the Court of Appeal held that his sentences were neither excessive, disproportionate or wrong in principle, given the gravity of the offence, and that the issue of a discount does not apply to an indeterminate sentence.
Alleyne, now 29, is seeking to overturn the decision of the Court of Appeal.
The young women, Shanna Griffith, Nikkita Belgrave, Pearl Cornelius, Tiffany Harding, Kellishaw Olivierre and Kelly Ann Welch perished in the horrific blaze.
A second young man, Jamar Dwayne Bynoe, who was charged in connection with the same tragedy was sentenced to hang on July 1, 2016 after being found guilty of six counts of murder.
His trial started on April 12, 2016.
Bynoe, of Headley’s Land, Bank Hall, St Michael is now 27 years old.
