A St Michael man charged with a seven-year-old criminal matter lost his freedom for 28 days at least after he failed to appear in court for over a year.
Trivia Contreau Chase, of Valerie Road, Brittons Hill, is accused along with a woman of entering the home of Anthony James on July 31, 2011, and inflicting serious bodily harm on James and at the time had with them a knife.
The two cannot plead to the indictable matter.
The case had been stalled for sometime as Chase was a no-show and several warrants had been issued for his arrest.
“I does go fishing,” the accused Chase told Magistrate Douglas Frederick today when asked to account for his absence.
However, his explanation was not enough to keep him from the St Philip penal institution.
Chase will return to the No.1 District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court on November 14.
