It took a bar manager almost four years to own up to three drug charges.
And for his crime, Jerry Ricardo Baker, of Middlefield Road, Princess Royale Avenue, St Michael, will have to find $1,200 in one week or spend a month at HMP Dodds.
When the case was called before Magistrate Douglas Frederick today the accused pleaded guilty to possession, possession with intent to supply and possession with intent to traffic 65 grammes of cannabis on July 29, 2014.
Station Sergeant Samuel Hinds said the illegal substance was found in a garbage bin on the aforementioned date when police executed a search warrant at Baker’s residence.
Appealing for leniency on behalf of her client, attorney-at-law Sukeena Maynard told the magistrate Baker had been doing well and had also not been before the court in over 18 years.
However, pointing out that the accused did have antecedents of a similar nature, the magistrate told Baker: “In your position . . . you can’t afford to have those types of convictions.”
He then imposed the fine on the possession charge and reprimanded and discharged Baker on the other two.
