A magistrate today chided a ZR driver over his behaviour, after he slapped another driver in a fit of rage.

Corey Jamal Best, 33, of Thornbury Hill, Christ Church, received a tongue lashing when he appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

The owner of a public service vehicle pleaded guilty to assaulting Olrick Jordan on May 12, 2018.

However, Best denied damaging a pair of spectacles belonging to Jordan during the incident.

A pre-sentencing report was
ordered and he was released on $3,000 bail. He will reappear in court on July 13 when the complainant is also expected to be present.

The court heard from prosecutor Sergeant Cameron Gibbons that Best got enraged after Jordan pulled off while he was trying to overtake him at a bus stop.

When Best overtook the vehicle Jordan was driving, he stopped the vehicle, got out and slapped him twice in his face.

Despite efforts to convince the magistrate that Jordan was at fault, Cuffy-Sargeant told him that he was not without blame.

“All of you do that nonsense on the road. You were able to manoeuvre because you are accustomed to doing it,” she said.

“You had no right to assault him. You could have stopped your vehicle and let him go. You put the passengers in your vehicle in imminent danger,” she said.
