In yet another worrying case of a domestic law enforcer turned accused law breaker, a 54-year-old prison officer was released on $3,000 bail today after appearing in a Bridgetown court on three drug charges.
Robin Wesley Wiltshire of Coach Hill, St John is accused of possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking of $1,314 worth of cannabis.
Members of the Drug Squad executed a search warrant at Wiltshire’s home on Tuesday. During the search, seven taped packages were discovered containing 262 grammes of the illegal drugs.

Today, Wiltshire was not required to plead to the offences which were read out by Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the No.1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
But, as was the case earlier this week when Acting Senior Superintendent of Police John Mark Annel appeared in court charged with six firearm offences, no objection was raised to Wiltshire’s bail.

However, his arrest, which follows swiftly on the heels of Annel’s detention for allegedly carrying out a series of offences under the Firearms Act, has served  to heighten public consternation over the level of official involvement in a rising domestic wave of gun and drug-related crimes.

Wiltshire, who is represented by attorney-at-law Sian Lange, makes his next appearance in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court on October 19.
